Track renewal and track laying operations require high expenditure for personnel and machines. With the help of mechanised work methods these costs can be clearly reduced. At the same time higher initial qualities can be achieved.
Plasser & Theurer offers sturdy and high performance track renewal and track laying machines that operate in continuous working action. The integrated material logistics organise the transport of sleepers and rails to and from the worksite over the newly laid track. Alternatively, we also offer compact renewal systems that work in cyclic action. New track construction projects are being implemented in many regions of the world.
The good functioning of the railway track depends upon the condition of the individual components such as rails and sleepers. Defective parts must be replaced in good time in order to avoid high subsequent costs. In the past these material-intensive and arduous tasks were carried out by manual labour, but today are performed using powerful machines.
Laying tracks using the continuous-action, assembly-line method has proven to be the most cost-efficient method of work. The entire supply of new sleepers and rails within the track being laid is by mechanised operation. Accuracy and high working speed are the outstanding features of this technique. The same applies for track renewal where firstly the old track is removed and then the new track is laid directly behind.
The higher output of this continuous working action is the greatest advantage compared to cyclic action using gantry units. Other advantages are the careful handling of the material, particularly the rails, and better preparation of the subsoil (sleeper bed).
