The Plasser Conveyor and Hopper Car MFS 40 is designed to transport ballast, spoil or other material in train formation to and from various work sites.

The advantage of the MFS 40 is its ability to transport, store, load, and unload material as a single unit or with other like units. It can also be used in combination with the Plasser Ballast Distribution System BDS 100/200, Ballast Undercutter Cleaner RM 76, RM 80, RM 800 series and RM 900 series machines.

The unloading conveyor can also be rotated from side to side, allowing spoil or ballast to be discharged into cars on adjacent tracks.
